Hidy Vault for iPhone · Last updated 20 October 2026

Short version: your vault is encrypted on your iPhone, we don't run accounts or analytics, and we can't read your files.

What stays on your device

Photos, videos, documents, notes, folder names and thumbnails you add are encrypted on your iPhone with keys derived from your pattern and a secret stored in your iPhone's Keychain. Your pattern and recovery phrase never leave your device.

What Hidy Vault does not do

No account, no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and no Hidy server that stores your vault. We do not sell or share data.

iCloud backup, sync and sharing (optional)

If you turn on iCloud backup, sync or sharing, an encrypted copy of the vault is stored in your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. It can only be opened with that vault's recovery phrase or a share invite. Apple's privacy policy covers iCloud. Turning backup off lets you delete the iCloud copy.

Purchases

Purchases through the App Store are processed by Apple; we receive no payment details. If you buy on our website, Polar (polar.sh) is the merchant of record and processes your email address and payment; Hidy Vault then sends only your license key and a device label (for example "iPhone · Hidy Vault") to Polar to check that the license is valid.

Photos access

Hidy Vault asks for Photos access only when you choose to delete originals after importing them. Camera and microphone access are used only when you take photos or videos inside the app.

Data you share

When you explicitly share or export a file, the app or person you choose receives a readable copy.

Children

Hidy Vault is not directed at children under 13.
